A huge thank you to everyone who joined us on Friday for our annual Fans Walk in aid of prostate cancer. Whether you walked with us, donated to our Crowdfunder or supported the event in any way, your kindness and generosity have helped make the day a fantastic success.
Over 100 people took part alongside Sunderland legends Gary Bennett and Mick Harford, helping to raise awareness of prostate cancer while supporting the NHS including the Urology Department at South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust.
Now in its third year, the Fans Walk is about far more than fundraising. It’s about encouraging men to talk openly about their health, recognise the symptoms of prostate cancer and understand the importance of getting checked early. Both Gary and Mick have overcome their own battles with prostate cancer and shared that powerful message throughout the day.
Our Founder, Michael Ganley, reminded us that football has the power to bring people together and help break the stigma surrounding men’s health by starting important conversations.
To everyone who walked, donated, volunteered and cheered us on – thank you. Together we’ve taken another important step towards raising awareness, supporting our NHS, and encouraging more men to get talking.
